From the Acting Principal - November 2023
“The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” – Oprah Winfrey
It is difficult to believe that I am writing the final newsletter for 2023. Time has certainly passed quickly this year. I would like to begin by sharing my deepest gratitude to all our families, staff and students for the support I have been given throughout 2023 as I fulfilled the Acting Principal role.
I have been honoured to be in this role and to be able to work with our staff to provide another year of excellent education for our students and to work with our girls to assist them to deepen their sense of belonging and understanding of what it means to be a St Hilda’s girl. Part of this journey is experienced in the final weeks of each year when a number of traditional and unique events take place recognising the tremendous work of our students and forming the next step in the history of St Hilda’s School.
This week our 2023 Year 6 students participated in a Farewell Chapel Service, during which each girl was celebrated and acknowledged for their great commitment to their years in the Junior School. Thank you to our wonderful families who gave their time to attend and join with the staff to congratulate the girls and to witness them crossing the path from Junior School to their Senior School experience in 2024.
The Junior School also recognised the hard work of students in Years 3 to 6 at the End of Semester Awards Assembly which was held on Thursday. Congratulations to the students who achieved great success in their studies during Semester 2 and received awards for their commitment to their learning.
On Wednesday evening, it was our great honour to celebrate our 2023 graduands at the Year 12 Graduation Ceremony held at the The Events Centre, Aquis Park. The only way I can describe the evening was magical as each Year 12 girl was recognised for her tremendous contribution to St Hilda’s School and celebrated for completing her schooling journey. Ms Alana Chesser, School Captain 2018 and President of the Old Girls’ Association, addressed the graduands, sharing wise advice for their life beyond the school gates.
On behalf of the School, I expressed our gratitude to the girls for their hard work and commitment to the School values and motto, Non Nobis Solum. The girls have led the School with pride and generosity this year and we wish each graduand every success.
As the final week of the 2023 academic year unfolds, I encourage all in our community to enjoy time together and especially the joy of coming to school and spending time completing learning and time with your teachers and friends. During the final week, the Junior School Speech Day will be held on Tuesday 22 November and the Senior School Speech Day will be held on Thursday 23 November. I look forward to celebrating our amazing girls at each of these special events.
